Usually the first Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m., the entire school meets in the gym to celebrate our achievements and share our learning. Family and community members are always welcome to attend! Please double check with the school if you are planning to attend, as sometimes dates for assemblies need to be changed.
We have been emphasizing Literacy at our school. Raz-Kids, Daily 5 and Guided Reading are some of the ways reading is supported. Each term students in grades 1-6 write a story inspired by a picture chosed to inspire their imagination. Teachers work collaboratively to monitor students' writing progress.
Our Spell-a-Thon has become an important annual event. It often takes place in the early spring. Students study a predetermined list of spelling words. They collect pledges from family and friends in the community. On the day of the test, students work hard to correctly spell as many words as they can. Pledges are collected and all proceeds from this fundraiser are used to offset the cost of field trips - typically the "whole school field trip" held in late January or early February.
Bruderheim School celebrates Canada Day each year. The school has an annual entry into the Town of Bruderheim Canada Day Parade, and students are encouraged to participate.
School Spirit Days
Bruderheim School organizes theme days for staff and students. Some theme days are Career Day, Plushie Day, and the annual Beach Day which includes a beach volleyball game between the Grade Six class and the staff.
Students at Bruderheim School are fortunate to participate in a variety of field trips throughout the year. Our annual field trips have included the Telus World of Science, the Edmonton Symphony, Swimming Lessons, Skiing and Snowboarding, Skating, and the list goes on. Check our home page often for upcoming field trip information, including dates, times, and cost.
